Wheeler, referred to by Natives as "Pukalani" (hole in the sky) is a small village of the Northern Coast on the edge of the Pacific. Surrounded by hills that seem to protect this community from the northwest wind, this area often has sunny days while neighboring towns experience fog and mist as if a "hole in the sky" has opened up and blessed this area. Wheeler's edge is lined with historic buildings acting as a visual display of what once was when Lumber mills and fish packing was the prevailing businesses of Wheeler.
